When Did Veterans Day Start? A federal holiday celebrated in November, Veterans Day is a day that honors all men and women who ever served in the United States of America military forces. Any person who was enlisted in the many fields and branches of the United States of America’s armed forces is being honored and celebrated.
The date of 11th November 2022 has special significance as it signifies the armistice finalization and signing which put an end to World War I in the year of 1918 between the Allied Nations and Germany. Hence many other countries that were a part of the Allied Nations group also celebrate the day in their own way. The countries were the United Kingdom, Canada, and other Commonwealth countries at that time.
This day is celebrated by a number of activities like church services, military parades on popular streets in cities of the United States and the flag of the country is on half-mast during the day as a mark of respect for the living veterans.

Across the United States of America, a two-minute silence is observed at 11 am remembering those who fought in the wars protecting the country. On May 13, 1938, the United States Congress approved an act which recognized November 11 as a legal holiday by the name of ‘Armistice Day’.
In the year of 1926, an official end of World War I was recognized by the Congress of the United States of America and it was declared that the anniversary of the signing of the armistice is celebrated with pride and prayer.

The president also declared that the 11th of November be observed in public places like schools and churches and that flag of the United States be displayed on all Government buildings on this day.
